About Our School

We use specific academic structures throughout the day.
These structures are in place in order for learning to take place. These structures listed below have been
implemented in our class to help facilitate learning within our classroom. We practice
these structures as a class so that each participant knows his or her responsibility to the group.

SLANT

S - Sit Up
L - Listen
A - Ask Questions
N - Nod Your Head
T - Track the Speaker

CHAMPS

C - Conversation (What level?)
H - Help (How do I get it?)
A - Activity (What are we doing?)
M - Movement (What is acceptable?)
P - Participation (What is my responsibility?)
S - Success (What does success look like?)

Voice Levels

0 - No Talking
1 - Whisper to a Neighbor
2 - Quiet Talk at your Group
3 - Teacher Voice
4 - Outdoor Voice

Cougar Character

Cougar Character is very important to all who love Cottonwood Creek
Elementary. Students know the consequences of their behavior (both positive
and negative) are the results of their OWN choices, not arbitrary decisions
made by the staff.
